NEWS: ROAD FATALITY TIMES REVEALED

Find out the most dangerous times to be on the road ...
IT HAS BEEN REVEALED THAT THE DEADLIEST TIME TO BE ON THE ROAD IS FROM 3 PM - 4 PM ACCORDING TO THE AUSTRALIAN ROAD DEATHS DATABASE!
A fleet management company Teletrac Navman recently analysed the Road Deaths data and found the shocking discovery that most fatalities occur during weekday knock-off times.
The analysis of the data had a few more shocking discoveries, including Saturday being the most dangerous day. Furthermore, the cooler months that have fewer daylight hours has seen a spike in road accidents.
Most deaths on the roads are easily preventable, according to a former Police investigator and Teletrac Navman Solutions Specialist, Chris L’Ecluse.
Mr L’Ecluse said, “Too often, drivers ignore road rules and find a way to justify it to themselves. This includes driving behaviours like speeding, looking at your phone while driving, or rolling through stop signs. I spent over 20 years as a police officer and I’ve seen first-hand the devastating impact of road collisions, on the individuals themselves, their families, friends and communities.”
Chief executive officer of the Australian New Car Assessment Program (Ancap), James Goodwin suggests that older vehicles on the road and road fatalities have a direct correlation.
Mr Goodwin said, “There are more than 2.7 million registered vehicles on our roads aged 15 years or older.”
“These vehicles are unlikely to be fitted with safety features that we now expect from new vehicles. So, not only do we need to focus attention to accelerate the uptake of new vehicles with the latest safety technologies, if tangible safety benefits are to be realised, we must implement ways and set targets to reduce the age of the fleet,” he said.
