Need to know: Even more details on Ford’s new Ranger Raptor

A few weeks ago, Tony White Group posted a news article regarding Ford announcing their 2018 performance line-up that included their first-ever Ford Ranger Raptor. Due to expressed interest in the new Ford Ranger Raptor, here is a bit more info on what you can expect from this high performance, off-road ute.
The Ford Ranger Raptor was first revealed in Thailand on the 7th of February 2018 with a long list of unique equipment and a bold design.
This all-wheel drive ute has been designed to travel at 170km/h off-road, which is a whopping pace for a dirt road! In order to achieve this, Ford has basically redesigned the whole rear end of the Ranger and massively modified the front and rear suspension. Ranger Raptor’s innovative new coil over rear suspension uses a Watt’s link setup with solid rear axle to provide superior lateral control off-road while also helping improve ride and handling. To compliment this, it has an increased ride height, wider track and improved approach and departure angles that ensure extreme off-road capability and stability.
The Ford Ranger Raptor will have a 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine and 10-speed transmission boasting proven durability thanks to extensive testing. Ford hasn’t released performance figures yet, but with 157kW and 500Nm it’s a fair bet it is going to be pretty punchy.
Ranger Raptor also comes with a Terrain Management System (TMS) offering six modes for various driving experiences, these include two on-road modes – normal mode and sports mode; and four off-road modes – Grass/Gravel/Snow mode, Mud/Sand mode, Rock mode and Baja mode (named after the famous Baja Desert Rally).
Plus, it’s not bad to look at either with distinctive design features in and out that are driven by functionality. At the front, an impressive new grille is inspired by the world’s first factory-built high performance off road truck, the F-150 Raptor. The iconic block FORD lettering, boldly positioned within the grille design, will make any dedicated Ford fan proud to drive it.
“It is amazing to enable this level of performance and create a vehicle that can provide off-road enthusiasts such an adrenaline rush,” said Jamal Hameedi, Chief Engineer, Ford Performance. “It really is like a motocross bike, snowmobile and an ATV rolled up into a pickup truck – it’s an incredible, awesome experience!”
Sales in Australia are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2018 with a price tag in the $80,000 range. If you would like to express your interest in the Ford Ranger Raptor contact Tony White Group on enquiries@tonywhitegroup.com.au
